Mission description
Join the Driverless Department and help shape the future of autonomous racing at the Bern Racing Team.
After establishing the foundations of our driverless project this year, our goal is to develop a fully functional autonomous system for future Formula Student competitions. You will contribute to both the software and hardware aspects of autonomous vehicle development, working on real-world engineering challenges at the intersection of robotics, control systems, and vehicle dynamics.
Technologies and Software
You will have the opportunity to learn and use:
- CARLA for simulation and data generation
- LiDAR-based perception systems
- MATLAB & Simulink
- ROS and autonomous vehicle software tools
- Control and vehicle dynamics development
Exciting Projects
Depending on your interests and experience, you may contribute to:
- LiDAR data processing and environment perception
- Autonomous navigation and path planning
- Development of steering and braking control systems
- Simulation and validation in CARLA
- Sensor fusion and localization
- Integration of autonomous hardware on the race car
What you will gain
- Hands-on experience in autonomous vehicle development
- Exposure to robotics, AI, and control engineering
- Practical experience with simulation and real-world testing
- Collaboration within a multidisciplinary engineering team
- The opportunity to help build the first fully autonomous Bern Racing Team race car
Whether your interests lie in software, controls, electronics, or mechanical systems, the Driverless Department offers a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the most innovative projects within the team.
